LOreal Malaysia for Woman in Science Fellowships program

The L’Oréal Malaysia for Women in Science fellowships is allocated to Malaysian women researchers who are pursuing their Doctoral studies or PhD holders who are at the early stage of their career, in the field of Life and Material sciences.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Malaysian
  • Below 35 years of age (Applicants born before 1st January 1975 will not be considered under this programme
  • Demonstrate academic excellence and the research project must be feasible with a high potential in contributing advances to research in Malaysia.

Award benefits:

  • RM20,000

Application procedures: 

  • Download the application form http://www.loreal.com.my/_ms/_my/fwis/img/pdf/FWIS_Application_Form_2009.pdf>here or obtain it from the Secretariat of the Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO.
  • Complete the form and compile the following documents:
    • Application form
    • Curriculum vitae, mentioning the applicants most important scientific publications
    • Certified copies of degrees or diplomas
    • Detailed description, one or two pages of the research project for the forthcoming year (year after the allowance of the fellowship) including

§    Title of the project

§    Objective of the research program

§    Background

§    Rationale

§    Methodology

§    Expected output

§    Scientific supervisor’s recommendation or recommendation of the head of the scientific institution where the project will be realised

§    List of scientific publications

  • Submit the application and all supporting documents to:

Jury President, c/o Secretariat of the Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO,
Ministry of Education,
International Relations Division,
Level 7, Block E8, Parcel E,
Federal Government Administrative Centre,
62502 Putrajaya, Malaysia 

  • Each application shall be signed by the Dean/Head of the unit in which the candidate will realise the research work
  • Applications must be submitted by 31st July 2009 to the Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO with the required documentation
  • Applications that are incomplete or have been submitted after the due date shall not be considered
  • The selection takes into consideration the eligibility criteria, application requirements/documents and objectives and policies of FWIS.
  • The selections are highly competitive and will be based on country standards and jury recommendations. Selection by jury panel is FINAL and will not be contested.
  • Candidates must provide 2 periodic reports of the project within one.
