The Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship 2010 Young Leaders' Programme (YLP)
The Embassy of Japan is pleased to announce that the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship for the Young Leaders’ Program (YLP) is now open for application until 23rd September 2009. Malaysian nationals who would like to pursue their Master’s degree courses in Japan are invited to apply for the scholarships. During the term of the scholarship, a monthly allowance of approximately 258,000 yen (subject to change) will be given. Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at the universities will be exempted. A round-trip airplane ticket is also provided.
 
Course duration is principally one (1) year from October 2010 to September 2011 (except for Business Administration Course, the commencement of the program is from September 2010 to August 2011). Courses will be conducted in English language.
 
There are five (5) courses available under the Young Leaders’ Program:
A. Business Administration Course (Master of Business Administration)
B. Law Course (Master of Law)
C. School of Government Course (Master in Public Administration or Master in Public Policy)
D. School of Local Governance Course (Master in Public Administration or Master in Public Policy)
E. Medical Administration Course (Master of Medical Administration)
 
Application is to be made through our recommending authorities; for Business Administration Course, please contact the National Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Malaysia at 03-6204-9811 (Ms. Annie William), for the other 4 courses, please contact the Public Service Department of Malaysia at Tel: 03-8885-3555 (Ms. Nor Hasaliza Asikin).
 
Requirements:
1. Applicants must be Malaysian citizens below 40 years old as of 1st October 2010 (for Business Administration below 35 years old as of 1st September 2010).
2. Applicants must be degree holders who have achieved excellent results with a good command of English language; a minimum TOEFL score of 600 or TOEFL-CBT of 250 or equivalent and GMAT score of 600, with at least 3 years of working
experience for Business Administration Course.
 
For the other 4 courses, a minimum TOEFL score of 550 or TOEFL-CBT score of 213 or equivalent is required. In addition, 4 years’ working experience in legal office of home country is required for Law Course, and at least 3 to 5 years’ working
experience in the government office is required for the rest.
