My background
I obtained my first degree in economics some 15 years ago and started my career as sales personnel for an MNC. I was eager to put my business knowledge into practicality, but soon realised it wasn’t the same as what I’d learnt in university. The real world is ever-dynamic and there was limited room for mistakes. The best decisions are those that make the best business sense, and it demands more than the understanding of theory for one to become successful. The knowledge I possessed was no longer sufficient to sustain today’s career requirements. I felt a thirst for new knowledge and experience: a quantum leap that would bring to me greater career development.
Choosing a qualification
An MBA programme offered by an overseas university would provide the best learning environment, with experienced lecturers, broader programme syllabus and good student mix. The Cardiff Metropolitan University MBA programme offers more than what I’ve been searching for.

'Go back to school after 15 years? You must be kidding…!’ I am lucky to have overcome this in the shortest time, and it wasn’t that difficult. All you need is this: ‘it is now or NEVER!’
New technologies and changing business environments have significantly raised the standards and expectations for almost everybody. A well-rounded person is required at the workplace for making timely decisions. To pursue an MBA programme is probably one of the best ways to get me there.
The Cardiff Metropolitan University MBA programme has made study easier for working adults like me. The block teaching method offers flexibility and sufficient time for part-time students to acquire new knowledge in the most comfortable way.

My advice
It is recommended for those who are interested to attend the MBA programme preview session if there is one, consult the programme coordinator and talk to the students to get the feel of it. Remember, you learn more when you ask, and you must enjoy it!
